This will be the first time in eleven days as Luleå plays a match in SHL. It will also be the first time in nine days as Färjestad collects to play a match. In other words, a meeting is expected between two teams that do not really have the matchtempot up. How can it affect the match?
It is the question we have chosen to provide the basis for the whole reasoning in our analysis before the match. The game tip we selected is also based on the fact that the team is expected to be a little bit stronger than usual.
Notice that Färjestad started the season brilliantly and thus secured a safe position high up in the table. Suddenly, it feels like a heavy ferry town, which can really be a candidate for the SM gold later this spring.
Before the break, we saw the team play a little different type of match, which was considerably more objective. In the last six games, the team never exceeded a total of five goals scored in the match. A clear change to the exciting FBK that started the season.
Luleå has approximately the same numbers. Five straight matches in SHL ended well below six goals scored. The fact is that on the team’s last five games before the breakdown was made no more than total – that is, total goals in the match – 14 goals. It gives an average of less than three goals per match.
On the other hand, the form was clearly better than before, where the defensive approach proved successful. Four wins in the last five are clearly better than during the season’s start and perhaps Luleå has found its success recipe.
We expect at least that the Norwegians continue on the same track and do not take any major risks here. Playing controlled and prioritizing the defensive has been gaining weight after a tough start of the season. Then it will not change on such a layout.
